I wish to thank Grand Master Pablo Trajtenberg, Acting President of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), for inviting me to review the “Taekwon-Do Kids Development Program” (TKD Program) and the Study Book developed by the ITF to teach the TKD Program. As Professor of Psychology and Instructor of Taekwon-Do, I am pleased and honoured to accept his kind invitation. I am doing this review in memory of Grand Master Trân Triêu Quân who died in an earthquake in January 2010. At the time, he was President of the ITF. He was also my Taekwon-Do Instructor. I had the privilege of working closely with him over many years on several projects related to Taekwon-Do, including the development an ITF program for teaching the DO.
The ITF Taekwon-Do Kids Development Program (TKD Program) is now being launched. The seminars for this programme will be held in England on 9th/10th June and in Spain on 27th/29th July.
Don´t miss this opportunity to get on board this project which promises to be one of the most important developments in ITF´s future. In the two day course you will learn useful teaching strategies for kids, how to teach this program and you will receive the instructor´s manual which will have a full description of the course structure and contains a list of activities and games to help you plan your lessons.
On 15th& 16thJanuary 2013 the ITF Children’s Development Committee met in Amsterdam to discuss the future of the Kid’s Development Program. The three Committee members were Master Donato Nardizzi (England), Fabian Izquierdo (Argentina) and the latest member to join the Committee, Philip Lear (England). Master Willy Van Der Mortel (Netherlands) was also expected to attend but was unable to because of the poor road conditions due to the snow.
The International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) set out to develop a website dedicated exclusively to their official education program for children between 3 and 7 years.
Instructors, specialists , artists , web developers and designers, worked for several months to create a modern website, according to the new codes of communication and new technologies used by younger and younger children.
The content is divided into three sections (For Kids , For Parents and For Instructors) to facilitate access to content that is relevant to Kids, Parents and Instructors.
Some of the objectives of the website are to cover all the topics of the Main Syllabus and Supplementary Syllabus of the Program , provide assistance to parents or guardians to understand that content and post updates , provide educational materials , books, etc. in a special section for TKD Program instructors.
The first among many steps required in the development of this web site is now online and available in Spanish and English.
